We couldn’t have predicted this one: Quicksand’s newest preview from their forthcoming Deliver On the Psychics album is a “diss monitor” concentrating on the so-called cool guys within the hardcore scene.
Aptly dubbed “Cool Man,” the brand new tune is defined in a press launch to be “an OG HC diss monitor” like Minor Menace’s “Small Man, Massive Mouth” or Unfavourable Strategy’s “Hypocrite” (we’d add guitarist Walter Schreifels “Massive Mouth” monitor with Gorilla Biscuits as one other attainable level of reference, however we digress.)
Whereas impressed by these sooner hardcore progenitors, “Cool Man” proceeds as a melodic, but pound-forward post-hardcore groover, whereby Schreifels posits that the loudest particular person within the room can typically be the weakest of the bunch (“You all the time attempt slightly an excessive amount of / Projecting confidence at another person’s expense”) and reiterates that they need to cease speaking shit (“Perhaps as an alternative you must simply shut it!”).
“Typically you simply gotta get these adverse feelings out,” the members of Quicksand add of their warmth examine.
A efficiency vid of “Cool Man” is streaming up above. It’s the fifth preview behind Deliver On the Psychics, following “Tremendous Collider,” “Get to It,” “Regenerate” and “Crystalize.”
As beforehand reported, the album is out July seventeenth by way of Equal Imaginative and prescient. A vinyl pre-order for the LP on unique “Pink Splatter” wax is up in Revolver’s store.
