DEADLINE: Matt, what are you able to tease in regards to the huge Sheriff Nation and Hearth Nation crossover? Will the storyline for the episodes be self-contained?
MATT LOPEZ: I might say sure and no. There are references to stuff that the Hearth Nation gang is taking part in. Like for Bode (Thieriot), it’s within the continuity. He’ll discuss issues which can be occurring on Hearth Nation. Our characters are doing stuff that’s definitely not inconsistent with our continuity, but it surely’s a standalone journey. We did the identical factor this 12 months as final 12 months’s crossover due to the response. Folks cherished it, and CBS was very thrilled.
DEADLINE: Final 12 months’s crossover was fairly late within the season. Did you deliberately plan for this season’s to occur earlier?
LOPEZ: Sure. We needed to do it earlier as a result of final 12 months the crossover was episode 13. I assumed it will be enjoyable to interrupt the story like a function. So it’s one steady story. If you happen to watched our final one, when it aired reside, it was seamless. There weren’t credit proven between the 2.
DEADLINE: Now we have the loglines, so what are you able to tease past that?
LOPEZ: What we’ll see is Mickey and Manny (Alejandro) determine very, very closely. There’s a state of affairs that arises on the day of a spectacular windstorm and fireplace occasion. There are additionally escaped convicts on the free. There are sources required each from 42 within the Hearth Nation Universe and from the ESCO (Edgewater County Sheriff’s Workplace) within the Sheriff Nation Universe. There’s this actual push and pull, and as leaders of those explicit incidents, Mickey and Manny should work out learn how to navigate this, and there are private stakes concerned. It’s an actual form of curler coaster episode. I believe audiences will adore it.

DEADLINE: Is that in reference to explosions, maybe?
LOPEZ: Sure, and like sensible, not CGI. We did some actually cool sensible stuff.
DEADLINE: Will there be something huge that occurs, so far as storylines go, that may proceed into every present’s following episodes?
