The record of Marvel characters who’ve efficiently wielded Thor’s hammer Mjölnir is ever-expanding, however those that elevate it are usually heroes who’ve already exhibited important prowess through the years. Whereas Steve Rogers lifting the hammer for the primary time was definitely an enormous second, it was additionally a comparatively predictable one within the massive image.

Worthiness is not decided at the beginning by superheroic would possibly, although, even when this truth has been much less incessantly confirmed in official Marvel lore. The most recent replace confirms {that a} character with out a lot bodily energy is certainly able to wielding Mjölnir, courtesy of Magic: The Gathering mechanics for official Marvel playing cards.

Mjölnir is making its Magic: The Gathering debut as a Legendary Artifact, and Spider-Man’s Aunt Might is formally one of many characters in a position to wield the hammer, as highlighted by Comedian Ebook Sources. In-game, the hammer can solely be outfitted by “a legendary non-Villain that is pink and/or white,” an inventory of attributes that applies to characters starting from TMNT’s Raphael to, bafflingly, Remaining Fantasy 7’s Sephiroth.

Aunt Might’s worthiness really makes a variety of sense, as she incessantly serves as a guiding mild for Peter’s ethical compass. Extra questionable, nonetheless, is the inclusion of J. Jonah Jameson among the many record. The newspaper mogul is not incapable of exhibiting heroism — the second within the Raimi movies the place he unhesitatingly protects Peter’s identification is an actual standout — however he is hardly the noblest Spider-Man character.

As a complete, it is arduous to take the record of worthy characters in Magic: The Gathering as any type of canon, as too most of the inclusions are essentially ludicrous. On the finish of the day, MTG merely is not prepared to make the hammer too area of interest in play, so Marvel appears to have allowed an additional little bit of artistic license for this utilization.

Aunt Might, nonetheless, is one character that I take into account absolutely authentic. It would not shock me if she does elevate the hammer sometime in Marvel comics, even when it is a throwaway gag the place she would not understand that she’s reaching something noteworthy.

That being mentioned, Aunt Might would possibly nonetheless be held again by the identical limitation that applies to Peter. Mjölnir is a warrior’s hammer, and it would not have a tendency to reply to these unwilling to kill for a trigger. Aunt Might may be one in all Marvel’s biggest heroes, however her greatness is partly as a consequence of her perception in turning the opposite cheek.
